We have Unicode CSV file as a source in our mappings, we are unable to access this file through informatica. Can anyone please let us know the code page setting to read Unicode CSV file?

It can be an opportunity for both the customers as well as the companies posting blocks for the Informatica Marketplace to use the Informatica tools most effectively if the top blocks of Marketplace are presented to the customers or mailed to customers on a regular intervals.

Hi All,   It would be easy when informatica designer allow us to disable a pipeline if a mapping has more than a pipeline. When I am developing a mapping with multiple pipelines and I want to test a pipeline in that mapping, the disabling feature (disabling the other pipeines) will make the testing easier. Or when the mapping is prodution, and we dont want to run a pipeline for few days(i.e the pipeline loading a table and we doesnot want to load the table for few days), disabling the pipeline …

Currently if we want to use IN function in a expression or a router we are using as below..   IN(COL_NAME,VALUES) E.g. IN(CTRY_ID,'IND','AUS','ENG') This is applicable for strings   If we want to parameterize these values then we need to declare the a parameter $$PARAM, and declare it as IsExpVar as TRUE and pass values as $$PARAM='IND','AUS','ENG'   Even if we want to compare integer values means we are still doing the same.. i.e $$PARAM='1000','1001','1003','1004'   Why can't we declar …

Hi,        I have more number of mappings in each folder. And if i need to check the object (mapping/workflow) properties (Date modified) to find when the object got migrated/modified recently, i have to open each mapping and check the properties by right clicking the object. This process is very time consuming. So can we get the object properties into a single file using any unix commands?   It would be helpful if anyone suggest the ideas for this.

Hi INFA Team, While working on huge mapping with more than 100 of links between transformation,it becomes really difficult to manage the links and there are chances that some of the links get deleted. Is there any way of freezing the unused code, so that one can easily work on the required part of code.

We have 60 mappings in the workflow and we hardcoded a value in all our mappings. Now I want to change the hardcoded value to Parameter. Can I export the workflow into XML file and replace hardcoded values directly in the XML file itself? Is this the correct approach?

It would be great if there is an option available to attache any DB Sequence to the Sequence Generator transformation in Informatica.   Suppose we have multiple source systems and related codes to load the data in a single Dimension table. We can use a Sequence Generator to load the SKs for this Dimension. Further we can make it REUSABLE to keep the SK sequencial and make a separate SK Generating Area. But, if two different seions using the same reusable Seq Gen, sometimes the Sequence Generato …

Hi In scenarios we have to compare input string vs lookup table and get lets say 3 most similar records, we have to use JAVA Tx with HashTable and one of compare string algorithms methods (Like Levinshtein distanse, Soundex etc) or SQL SP script, The problem is that it usually running very slow and there is no corporate solution(one Truth). So on the same data, there is different resuls so it's hardly possible to establish pass threshold, So it make everybodies life easier if we will have b …

In the latest power center versions if we assign variable in mapping level, and using this variable in pre/post sesison sql commands (In target properties), the variables holds the previous session stored value in repository. It would by very handy if we could use new values assigned  in mapping's current session.       TY

It would be usefull if  in session mapping property "Target Table Name" we have had a possibility embed sql query or store procedure (which returns a table name as a string), with option pass to this query parameters.   TY

Hi INFA Team,   Would be really helpful if a feature which can facilitate us to create a source to target mapping specification from a PowerCenter mapping.   Typically, we use mapping specs provided by business analysts to create maps in PowerCenter. Let us say, I want to reverse engineer a map and create map spec from it.   The current option in repository manager or MAE don't generate complete specification, as on they don't understand some transformations and the logic is not captured prop …

I am looking for a way to show the last time a user logged into any of the PowerCenter 9.x clients.  I would like to simply list the login name and date of last login.  I want this to determine if we should disable an account after not logging into the system after a certain threshold # of days.  Thanks.

We have a on premise 4 node power center 9.1 domain that used for continuos data loads into EDW.  We are on support all the time and we would like to see an Mobile App(Android or IOS) from Informatica or any external App certified by Informatica, which we can leverage to monitor informatica workflows and do the basic monitoring stuff (Stop/Start/Restart/Schedule/Recover)  that we do in Informatica Workflow monitor.   This would be invaluable for our support team and would save time in getting t …

Hi ,      Most of the Informatica Mappings requires Physical balance information . ( Source count and target count are the same after the load ) . This information needs to be captured to a Process control table and again is being monitored by the Business nowadays.     The Idea here is ,   Its a know fact that Infa stores these information in the Metadata table ( repository tables ) . But these tables will not be given access to the developers by the adminstrators.     But the source count …

Hi ,   Why not some new Connector be created to Send the load status in SMS ( Text Messages ).   It's time , the Production support People are need to be readily alert to the Daily Load status. And also it is not 100% possible to keep on sitting before the computer to monitor the load in the Infa monitor , neither through Email Alerts.   There are few Production loads , which cant even spare Tea Time. For those Production guys , This connector will be highly helpfull.   If they are alerted …

I just got an idea while using data masking transformation and would like to share with you. One of the column which i want to mask is available in couple of tables. they are inter-related. if i join on that column i have to get the same count before and after masking. This is not happening with Data masking transformation, i used almost all the options in masking properties like key, Random, etc. I am not sure if i am missing to explore it, but if it is not there, i just want you to think about …

As part of any Informatica Upgrade and consolidation project [e.g. from version 8.1.1 to 9.1.0HF5] I have developed a solution for automated project setup in PowerCenter. The project automates the manual steps and reduces the time spent on each project from one hour to few seconds. Considering enormous number of project setups required across environments, this automation was a huge process improvement for our organization.   This idea will cover and automate the following tasks : Synchronize …

While creating mappings in the Mapping Designer, many times by mistake some links are deleted.. or are mapped wrongly.. or some objects are deleted.. Having a habit of using various editors which support the functionality to press CTRL+Z to revert the last change done, many times we do the same thing at mapping designer, in the hope that it will revert back the last change done.. like an undo command..   But, that doesnt happens in Informatica Power Center..   So, it would be good if Infor …

When we create workflows using the Generate Workflow Wizard in the Power Center designer, we dont get to see the workflow in the workflow manager unless we disconnect and connect the folder again at workflow manager.   There needs to be a refresh button provided at workflow manager to capture the changes done at power center designer.

Hi,   It would be good if informatica can add a feature to test the relational connections that are created at workflow manager.   Since, there is currently no way to test the relational connections that we create at workflow manager, we are able to identify any issues only after running the workflow. So, if we can have some functionality to test the relational connection at workflow manager level, then it would be very helpful.   Regards, Yogesh

Hi,   It would be helpful to store load statistics like Start and end Run time, Processed rows, Rows in Error, Task Status, etc. in a flat file/table that can be easily queried to get a snapshot of daily loads.   Right now, looks like, the only way to get this is to parse the session logs to store these statistics.
