Winter 2013 User Guide and Release Notes

Attached are the Informatica Cloud User Guide and updated Release Notes for the Winter 2013 release.

New Features and Enhancements

Informatica Cloud Winter 2013 release includes the following new features and enhancements:

  • Informatica Google Big Query Loader. You can use the Informatica Google Big Query loader to load data into Google BigQuery using the Data Synchronization and Custom Integration applications. More information is available in the Informatica Cloud community.
  • Streamlined user interface. Informatica Cloud Winter 2013 includes a new and improved look and feel for Informatica Cloud. Changes include:
    • New menus. Streamlined menus allow you to more quickly access the pages you want to view.
    • Informatica Cloud sidebar. The new sidebar provides instant access to the online help, customer support, the Informatica Cloud Community, and online videos.
    • Buy Now. Use the Buy Now tab to access subscription option information.
  • Data Synchronization enhancements:
    • Salesforce Bulk API reader. You can now use the Salesforce Bulk API to process Salesforce source data.
    • Parameter files. You can define parameters in a parameter file and use the parameters in data filters, expressions, and lookup expressions.
    • Lookup expression. You can add a simple expression when you configure lookup return values.
    • Edit types. You can edit datatypes for any source or target field in data synchronization tasks.
    • New save options. When saving a task, you can choose between several options: Save and Continue, Save and Close, and Save and Run.
    • Field mapping display. You can view the field mapping details for a task when you view task details on the View Data Synchronization Task page.
    • NetSuite updates for data synchronization tasks:
      • You can use standard parent and child NetSuite objects as targets.
      • You can configure advanced source properties to perform change data capture on NetSuite sources, define the page size, and include deleted rows.
      • You can configure advanced target properties to define the batch size, custom success and reject file names, and replace all data in child targets.
  • Data Replication enhancement:
    • Bulk API. Salesforce Bulk API is available to process Salesforce data.
    • Base64 encoded body size. You can configure the body size for base64 encoded data.
  • Integration template enhancements:

    • Cloud Integration Template Designer. The Informatica Cloud plug-in for Mapping Architect for Visio is now known as the Cloud Integration Template Designer.
    • Object-level session properties. You can configure advanced object-level session properties in source qualifier and target objects.
    • Multiple pipelines. You can use multiple pipelines in an integration template.
    • Multiple sources. You can join connect multiple sources to a single source qualifier object.
    • Session properties. When you import an integration template, you can configure session properties, such as how source rows are treated and the commit type and interval.
    • Hide parameter option. You can configure a parameter so it does not display in tasks.
    • Field mapping input control customization. You can customize how the field mapping input control displays available fields. You can create filters to limit the fields that display or declare the exact set of fields that you want to display.
    • New variables. You can use the $CurrentTaskName and $CurrentTime variables in integration templates or when defining session properties such a custom session log name.
    • Migration. You can migrate integration templates alone or as part of custom integration tasks.
  • Custom Integration connection types. You can use NetSuite and Informatica Cloud Connectors in custom integration tasks. You can also use the SAP RFC/BAPI interface to access SAP data.
  • Activity log enhancements:

    • Restart jobs. You can restart jobs from the activity log.
    • Sort and search. You can sort jobs on the activity log and perform simple and advanced searches.
    • Custom views. You can now create custom views for the activity log.
  • User groups. You can now assign users when you configure a group.
  • Salesforce API version. Salesforce connections now use Salesforce API version 25 by default. A new Salesforce object, ForcastingQuota, is not available for use at this time.
  • SAP RFC/BAPI interface. You can use the RFC/BAPI interface to access SAP source and target data.
  • ODBC driver upgrade. Informatica Cloud now uses Data Direct ODBC version 7.0.1 drivers.
  • Informatica Cloud Toolkit enhancements.
    • File types. Developers can bundle different file types in the Informatica Cloud Connector package zip file.
    • Multi-level folder hierarchy. The zip file also supports a multi-level folder hierarchy under the root directory.
    • Improved certification process. The streamlined certification process provides quicker certification of Informatica Cloud Connectors.
  • Informatica Cloud REST API updates:

    • field resource. The new field resource allows you to request field details for a source or target object.
    • masterTemplate. The masterTemplate resource includes updates to parameter attributes.
    • org. The org return object includes Informatica Cloud Connector license information.
    • register. The register resource allows you to enter a registration code.

 

Behavior Changes

This release includes the following changes in behavior from the previous release:

 

  • Navigational changes and services rename. Along with the streamlined user interface, please note the following changes:
    • Informatica Cloud applications. Informatica Cloud services are now known as Informatica Cloud applications. You can access applications, such as the Data Synchronization application, under the new Applications menu.
    • Task flows. Task flows are also accessible under the Applications menu.
    • New license page. Organization license information displays on a new Licenses page under the Administration menu.
  • Free Data Loader and Informatica Cloud Express. With this release, Free Data Loader and Informatica Cloud Express tasks must include a database or flat file source or target, as stated in the original licensing agreements.
  • Microsoft SQL Server date handling. In previous releases, Microsoft SQL Server date fields were being treated as VARCHAR(10). Microsoft SQL Server date fields are now treated as timestamp.

Upgrade notes: This change occurs immediately for data replication tasks that perform a full load. An existing data synchronization task that runs successfully continues to use VARCHAR(10) if you do not edit the task. When you perform a major edit, such as refreshing field mappings, the change takes effect and might cause the task to behave differently. Edit the task as necessary to correct the issue.

  • Integration templates. Some unnecessary properties no longer display in the object properties dialog box. You can now use underscores and spaces when defining parameter labels,
