Unable to connect to Repository Server

Hi,

We are a new group in the company to use Informatica. We installed Informatica PowerCenter6.2 Client, and did proper configuration. When we started the Workflow Monitor, tried to connect to the repository, we are failed. It shows disconnected. We tried to connect it again to On line, coming back with the message "Cannot connect to the server xxxxxxx". We also get the following message "pmwfmntr.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program". We did contact our Administrator, he can see the repository server running normally.

Have anybody had the similar situation or have any idea about this? Any input will be great help.

Thanks,

onboard

-Can you connect to the repository in the workflow manager?

-Can you ping the box where repository server and pmserver are running? =Are the clients and servers in the same network?

-Do you know if pmserver is running? Then only you will be able to =connect to it in the monitor in online mode.

It sounds like you successfully connected to the repository, but it's when you try to connect online to the Server is where it fails. Yes, the Server must actually be running before you can TCP connect to it online. Check that first. If so, try this: Close Workflow Monitor. Make sure the blue/white icon is no longer in the system tray (bottom right). If it is, right-click and exit. Search your client box for 'pm*.ini', look for pmwfmntr.ini. If it is there, delete it. On Windows 2000 Pro it is in the c:\winnt directory. Try reopening it. If that doesn't work, exit again, close from system tray again and run a session from Workflow Manager. The icon should come up in the system tray automatically. Double-click on it. You should be connected both to the repository AND online to the Server, without having to do any logging in.
