Informatica Interview Questions

Hi all,

I have some question can you please help me solving this.

1.How can you tell that a workflow or Mapping is well tuned with out changing any thing in the any of the objects like session, workflow or mapping. on the first look

2.When we sort the data in ascending from the sorter transformation sending into the aggregator will increase the performance. If i change the same to descending will there is any performance change.

3.i have created a mapping, session for the same and workflow for the same. Now when i executed the same worflow i cannot able to see the running workflow in the monitor. why this will happen ?

4.i have data like this in the flatfile

shipmentnumber shipmentname

product productname

placeid placename

Sno.  Date of issue   quantity    date of delivery   place

1      21-dec-2011      10         22-dec-2011        bnag

2      21-dec-2011      5          21-dec-2011        hyd

3      21-dec-2011       6         23-dec-2011        chn

now i want to import the flatfile into the desiner starting from the sno.column i should not delete any thing still i want to import it into the designer. how can i acheive this ?

Thanks in advnace....

    Informatica Interview Questions

1.Placing the filter close as possible to the source.

2.Removing the unwanted ports(or ports that  are not connected to down stream) from the connected look-up

3.sorted data for aggregator or joiner

4.setting the tracing level to normal

5.having an appropraite amount of data for commit interval in session properties

6 .If the session was allowed to run,we can find from session statistics

Basically it is difficult to predict on the first look because we are not sure on the amount of data on the database.

per my knowledge, even if we sort the data by descending order the performance holds the same, but needs to test.

3.The domain might be configured in mapping desinger, workflowmanager but not in monitor.

    Option 1:- ref. mari's answer.

Option 1.. browse thru the performance log and check the alert/warning which could give some hint of any issues.

If the Porperties tab (Session level), check the option "Collect performance  data" is on. and check the results in Workflow monitor (In Run properties  --> Performance ).

Option 2. Check all the objects are in green after do a VALIDATE object.

Option 3 . There are n number of informatica software packages which can integerate with informatica for performance check.

    Re: Informatica Interview Questions

    Hi Siva,

I think its too late to answer your Questions but still i am replying to your Discussion:

    For the first Question:

We can check many things like-->

      • Filter must be near to Source Qualifier if used.
      • Aggregator must be getting Sorter Input.
      • Joiner should also get a Sorted Input.
      • Unwanted ports must not present in the overall flow.

    For your second Question:

If you are sorting the data in assending or descending it will be the same because in assending also it has to sort the whole darta and in descending

also so it will not effect the performance.

    For your Third Question:

If you have just created the mapping is a first time run then might be the integration service is not connected in the Monitor.

    For your fourth Question:

You can import the whole file and after importing you can use only required Columns means you can pass only those columns which comes under your requirement.

As it is a long time you posted these Questions can you please let me know if your answers are different than mine.

    Thanks & Regards,
