Power Center 9.0.1
So today I have a convoluted mapping which starts with a SQ->Router->(lookups, expressions, etc). So my boss is concerned (i am behind schedule) so a consultant had a look. He said I PowerCenter will get confused if I try to take an output of an expression transformation into another expression transformation. Is this true?
Next Question: since my boss is paying for the consultant, I will do as he says and modify my rather sizeable and convoluted mapping. But when I began merging one expression transformation into another expression transformation, then attempted to connect the router output to the input of the new row in the merged expression transformation, The blue link line will not show up, and a new input port gets created. This is really bugging me. THE QUESTION: why wont the link line connect the router out to the newly added expression transformation. The data types are identical.
Please advise where I am missing the point.

yes you can connect from one expression to another expression. No issues.
For other issues can please provide error or screen shot of mapping. so that its easy to under stand issue.
It may be a silly one. Please check whether the input option is checked for the port which is in expression transformation.
Also could you please give more details on what the consultant had said ?
Thank You, The problem ended up being resolved by MENU-Layout-LinkColumns had to be clicked.
Thnaks for clarification gentlemen on the back to back expression transformations.
